Today; we tried to get in touch with Lucy, she isn't available so we have to again change the date that we are going to record the voice over. WE are still having a problem with our footage as its saying 'general error' when being played over a certain part but we are working around this and continuing with the titles. We looked at the titles we had already included and decided that the entrance for the title Connor Still was not appropriate and looked too much like a animation off of a powerpoint slide. We changed it to a drop in and then a drop out effect which looked better and became more effective.

Creating Titles
We created our titles in LiveType. This is the first title which I created. I firstly selected the font style in which I wanted the text to be in which was 'Corsiva Hebrew', then went on to choose the colour. I chose the colour pink/purple as it is usually associated with Romantic Comedy's but this choice of colour may later change when the whole piece has been put together as the background colour the text is going to sit on may not match. The colour we consider changing this too is white. I then added the animation in which I wanted the text to come in on and then one which it should exit on.
After these titles were created, we had a group talk and realised that the producer was more important than the director and that we needed to rearrange the order of the titles.
Once the title was complete, with the animations and the colour etc, we had to export it so that it was ready to put into final cut on our opening sequence. I clicked on file, then saved it. I gave it an appropriate name so that i was able to find it when importing it to the opening sequence. To import it to the opening sequence I had to go to file, then render Movie. Because it was saved, when i went to file, import, in Final Cut, i chose the title and every time i edited it, to make it better, it would change in Final cut after i rendered it.
The other title which I created was for the producer. I decided to put the video in LiveType so that i could get the titles in the exact place. I wanted them to appear when she walks in the door, and when the bed cover is put back, the titles dissapear. This took me a while to get them in the right position and the right timing. With this, using the video in the background helped so that i didn't have to estimate the position. This helped and allowed me to get the correct positioning.

19/01/2012- Todays Lesson
Did we meet the targets?
Voice Over
We wasn't able to get Lucy to record the voice over, instead we arranged a date of the 26th January so that we can get this done and then edit it into our sequence.
Titles
We started to think about the kind of titles and transitions that we wanted in the piece. We use fade in from black as a transition at the beginning of our footage as you can see in the screen shot below.
We went into creating and having a go at using Live type as, as a group we was inexperienced with the software. As we was creating a Romantic Comedy, we wanted the title of the film to represent the two types of characters in the opening sequence. With this we decided we wanted the word 'game' to look colourful and like children drew it themselves. This connotes back to the job which Ellie has as she is an art teacher. The words 'can play that' we wanted to be placed above this in a normal font but in a different colour, which we haven't decided yet, and then above this on a slant we wanted 'two' in italics. Having this would connote back to Jessica and her personality as she is quite a formal confident 'posh' person. Below is a rough sketch of the title.
Ending of sequence
As a group we still haven't decided on the ending of the sequence but we have come up with some ideas such as the voice over ending it, or a fast forwarded clock to show the time passing or just titles but we haven't made a final decision.
Actions on the beat
We tried our best to put actions of characters on the beat but some parts fit alot better than others. We changed one problem which was a jump cut between two separate shots but using the cut tool we cut one long piece of film and speeded up the middle section so the cut was not showing and it looked more professional. We are going to continue with this.
Updated production Schedule;
Tuesday 24th January- Create titles in Live type. Making sure we consider fonts, actions, direction and relation to the actor in the most effective way to the audience and making sure that it fits with the genre of film.
Thursday 26th- January- Use Lucy as she is available to record and edit the voice over into the piece.

Blog update 17/01/2012
We managed to get alot completed in today's lesson. We finished the order of the rush cuts and made sure that it was in the order on the storyboard and in the order that looks most effective including the footage that we filmed yesterday of Jessica. As a group we all had a chance of editing and as I wasn't experienced with the software I started by learning the basics such as moving, cutting, rendering, changing the speed, using in point and using out points. I feel like I have learnt how to use Final cut and will be able to continue when using to in the future. When we firstly put the shots in as we intended it ran over the 2minute time limit we had to meet so we all took a chance at cutting little pieces of shot which were unessential in the opening scene. Once this was done, we managed to get the whole sequence down to under 2minutes giving us time for any titles we want to include. As a group, we still haven't decided how we want the sequence to end so we aim to sit down and discuss this next lesson when we have watched the piece as it is and made a final decision.
We are not finished as this is the first rushes stage, we still need to get Lucy to record the voice overs for her character of Ellie. When this is done, we need to add them and get them over the right piece of footage. As a group we have to also add titles, the voice over, any colour changes we wish to make and continue to make everything run smoothly making sure that it is still looking of a professional standard.
In the screen shot below, because the colour of the footage was too dark, we decided to change the colour by using the colour correction option which was under effects and video filters.
This shot shows that we used folders to group shots together and how we are using the split screen to view and edit clips.
This screen shot goes on to show the new tools, like colour adjusting, that we are using to improve our editing and again the use of different bins for each character in the sequence.
This shows the use of the speed up tool again to speed up this time a clip of Jessica making her bed.

Blog update 16/01/2012
Like scheduled we filmed the remaining parts of our opening sequence at my house. We used Ellouise like planned to play Jessica and once we got the camera and tripod from media we went to film. We filmed the parts where Jessica wakes up for work, gets herself dressed, leaves for work in a car and works in an office.
We used the story boards, screen play and shot list to accompany our filming so we knew exactly what to film. We all had equal parts in filming and directing the day. Some of the shots we planned to use for example when we was filming Ellouise walking in and making the bed, we had to change because when we put it into prospective with the space we had we realised we was unable to get an effective shot. To get a good shot of Jessica getting clothes out of the wardrobe, as we was using a walk in wardrobe, I went into it and recorded from the back so the audience get a side view of her choosing her clothes for work.
Connor filmed the section where the bedroom door opened and shut after she had got changed for work, this was tough as he had to made sure the camera didn't move so that there was no jump cut when the footage was all put together. This was done successfully and the tripod helped with this.
After a successful day, the filming was complete and we have stuck to our production schedule. When editing we may find sections of footage that we need to re-film due to maybe lighting, costume or misc-en-scene errors so we have given ourself time to decide.

Today's Progress
In the screen shot below we was aiming to speed up the section of Ellie falling over the cover on the floor. We think that this clip is too long to keep at normal speed but the element of comedy needs to be in there. When speeded up we believe it will look good. To speed this clip up we firstly clicked the section of film using the arrow tool, clicked on modify on the tool bar at the top, then click speed. The speed of the clip will be at 100% which means its going normal speed and to speed it up we typed in a higher number of 150%. We decided this speed as we still wanted a professional look about it and not wanting it too look too jumpy.
In the screen shot below, the footage we have edited after speeding it up is being rendered. You have to do this process when the clip has been edited so that it is saved, to do this you hold down shift and press R on the keyboard. Once the clip is rendered your able to view it after editing and have the option to leave it or make any further changes.
In the screen shot below it is showing how we made the shot look normal without it being distorted. We had to edit the size of the frame so we moved it to around 56 so that it became 'normal.' In the left of this shot there are bins and clips, these are what we filmed, to see these clips before editing you would drag and drop it into the first screen. When this was going to be edited it would happen in the second screen. As you can see in this screen shot the footage has been inserted but also the music has too. We imported it and placed it at the right time so it fits with the filming.

Blog update 12/1/12
Today we put the shots together to the rushes stage, as I wasn't experienced in editing on final cut I took in the tools and the commands etc that Becky and Connor used. From this, I am going to edit the parts that are filmed of Jessica. We each need to take part in the editing stage, along with the filming stage so we have had a equal chance. We each took part in the filming of Ellie's parts and Becky and Connor edited so I am going to have the chance next time. Whilst this was happening, today I was updating my blog with screen shots. Yesterday more filming was carried out and I wasn't able to attend due to a planned occasion but this is the only time I wont be at a filming session. We also planned as a group the times we are filming and editing next.
Monday 16th January 2012 - Filming at My house for Jessica's chunk of the film
Tuesday 17th January 2012- Editing the shots we filmed for Jessica
Thursday 19th January 2012- Cut down and edit clips to fit the time allowance given
Monday 23rd January 2012- Continuing editing. Discussing as a group if there is any re-filming that needs to take place.

Blog update 9/1/12
Today we met up so we could begin filming for our opening sequence. We wanted to film the parts of Ellie which is being played by Lucy Evers. She was available this day for filming so we arranged to film her parts. Before we started to film, we made a note from our story board and shot list on the pieces we was filming today. We got the camera and the tripod from school and headed to Becky's house where we planned to film.
We recorded the parts of the film where Ellie is in the bedroom, waking up and getting dressed end running to the station etc. We took turns in using the camera and directing the actors so that we each had a equal oppertunity. For each part we recorded many times so we got the right shot from the angel that looked the best. In our prelim we had to re film a section due to the lighting so we took this into account and recorded them many times so we had the right shot and didn't have to re-record. Once the shots in the bedroom were done, we started filming in the bathroom using the camera as the mirror. We then filmed the shots of her coming out of the door running down the stairs and out of the front as she is late for work.
We decided to film at Becontree station which ment that we had to get permission, we asked the worker and he was okay with it. Becky took the camera and filmed Lucy getting on the train as it leaves the station then films her getting off at her destination running up the stairs towards work. This shot completed the filming for the day which had taken up about 3 or 4 hours of the day.
Overall the progress that the group have made today is positive and we have successfully filmed the parts that we planned. We took into consideration errors from the pre-lim when filming and used them to improve the use of the camera and recording in our actual piece.
We now need to film the classroom scenes, Jessica's parts and start the editing process.
This is a picture to evidence filming that happened today..

Blog update 5/1/12
In todays lesson, our group managed to finish the storyboard and the shot list. In total we have 59 shots. The story board we have done in detail but we need to include titles. We found out from filming the prelim that having a detailed story board and a making sure we have a shot list would really benefit and help us film better as we could refer back to it constantly and it will keep is in order of the shots. As a group we put in a lot of effort which is a positive as we can use this and stick to the story board when filming. The shot list will help when filming as we can film all of the shots in a certain location with certain actors and then go onto the next without having to go back a re-film.
Storyboards for opening sequence
These are our completed story boards that we have each taken time to create. We have all put in effort into putting the story board together. We made sure that we included shot types and what was being included in each shot. First of all we didn't include titles etc and then we changed it and included them so that we could follow this strictly when filming. When putting the story board together we saw how the opening sequence was coming along.

3/1/12 blog update
Today our group managed to finish the screenplay and made a final decision on the things we will include in the opening sequence of our Rom-Com. We all put an input into the screenplay and have planned it out fully. We now need to create a detailed story board which will help us then to create a shot list and be more organised when it comes to filming the piece. Over the christmas term, I wrote up a production schedule which includes props, locations, actors, costumes and a time frame in which we plan to film. The screen play we created is successful as it includes the types of camera shots were going to use, dialogue and the action happening in the shot.
